Dr Eve Hsing is a comprehensive Ophthalmologist specialising in medical retinal conditions including macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and vascular occlusion, as well as general eye conditions such as cataracts and pterygium surgery.
She graduated from the QUT Optometry program with Honours before completing her medical degree in her home state of Queensland. Prior to commencing formal Ophthalmology training in 2018, Dr Hsing completed Masters of Medicine in Ophthalmic Science through the University of Sydney and worked in various metropolitan, regional and rural centres within general medical, ophthalmic and optometric settings.
Dr Hsing went on to complete 5 years of accredited Ophthalmology training across major tertiary adults’ and children’s hospitals in Queensland, including a 12-month Fellowship at the Mater Hospital in South Brisbane. She was subsequently awarded the Topham Scholarship to support subspecialty training abroad in the field of Medical Retina at the Bristol Eye Hospital, United Kingdom. She has been involved in multiple clinical trials and regular departmental teaching sessions, through which extensive knowledge was gained in the latest treatments available for common retinal conditions such as macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease.
In addition to presenting at local, national and international scientific meetings, Dr Hsing has published in both Optometry and Ophthalmology journals. She is a peer reviewer for Clinical & Experimental Optometry, the official journal of Optometry associations in Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong, and has taught Residents and Medical & Optometry students in both Australia and the UK.
Dr Hsing takes pride in taking the time to ensure her patients fully understand their eye condition and treatment options. In her spare time, she enjoys playing music and has been a member of the Queensland Medical Orchestra throughout her medical training.
