Dr Jayne Camuglia
Dr Camuglia is a General Adult and Paediatric Ophthalmologist with subspecialist fellowship training in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
Dr Camuglia completed a Bachelor of Science and then her medical degree at the University of Queensland. She underwent her residency training at Melbourne’s Peninsula Health and Alfred Health before returning to Queensland to complete her specialist training in Ophthalmology. She became a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists after further training in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus with Professor Glen Gole.
Dr Camuglia has current appointments as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at both the Queensland Children’s Hospital and the Mater Hospital in Brisbane. She is involved in the teaching of registrars at these hospitals, and is also a member of the Queensland branch Qualifications and Education Committee responsible for selection and training of current and future ophthalmology trainees.
Dr Camuglia enjoys seeing and providing care for patients of all ages, from premature babies to adults with age-related eye conditions. Her particular areas of expertise include:
- Paediatric ophthalmology
- Adult and paediatric strabismus surgery
- Cataract surgery
- Management of glaucoma
- Management of macular degeneration and diabetic eye conditions
Dr Camuglia has co-authored text book chapters on infantile esotropia and accommodative esotropia that have been published internationally. She has additionally published in a number of peer-reviewed journals and has presented her research both nationally and internationally. She is married to Anthony and has three young children, and enjoys keeping busy with them during her spare time.
